Cheetaan - alike

Cheetaan character

I am not entirely content with this, but it is ok. It was supposed to be a main character of an RPG style game written for 1985 hardware. The most important problem i encountered apart from the limited color choices (There are 64 colors on an EGA, four levels for each component) is that the standard EGA has not got any mode which would have square pixels making nice ports to modern hardware impossible, so i gave up for VGA. This one is to be viewed with square pixels by the way (I hoped there is a hack somewhere, but no). 12 custom EGA colors, 256x256, created on 22-26th of December, 2008.

Commodore 64 cheetahs

Cheetahs on C64

Two ihr (interlace hires) cheetah images for the C64.
Cheetah head (prg, 5761 bytes)
Cheetah sitting (prg, 5177 bytes)
The cheetah head uses two layers of sprites over a hires background while the other uses four (This later was done faster, it could have been possible with just two layers). The images were drawn with a tool i developed myself for the purpose, and were compressed with own algorithms as well. I did not put too much effort in the actual presentation which presents itself with neat flashing garbage stuff on the bottom half :3. Works on both PAL and NTSC machines. Created on the summer of 2008.

The sunrise

The sunrise

Considering it's age it is a good piece i believe. This was originally created for a then planned QBasic game, for the 640x480 high resolution 16 color VGA mode. It was pixelled using Deluxe Paint III, as i remember even the circle of the sun was hand - drawn. 13 colors, created in at about one week on the spring of 2005, on a 25MHz 4.86.
